We asked our team in Thailand about the challenges their nursing population faces and the changes they wish to see. Keep reading to hear their responses in their own words:
1.อะไรคือสามสิ่งที่ท้าทายสำหรับพยาบาลในประเทศไทย?
ในการดูแลสุขภาพประชาชนนั้น สิ่งที่ท้าทายที่พยาบาลกำลังเผชิญคือการดูแลผู้ป่วยที่เป็นโรคไม่ติดต่อ (non-communicable diseases: NCDs) โรคติดต่อ (communicable diseases: CDs), และการดูแลประชากรผู้สูงอายุที่มีแนวโน้มมากขึ้น
2.ประเด็นการพยาบาลและสุขภาพจิตในประเทศไทยเป็นอย่างไรบ้าง?
ประเด็นปัญหาทางสุขภาพจิตที่เกิดขึ้นกับพยาบาล ได้แก่ ความเครียดในการทำงาน ความเหนื่อยล้า ภาวะหมดไฟจากการทำงาน เนื่องจากปัญหาความขาดแคลนพยาบาล และการดำรงรักษาพยาบาล ทำให้พยาบาลที่มีภาระงานมากเกิดความเหนื่อยล้าจากการทำงาน ประกอบกับการระบาดของโรคติดเชื้อไวรัสโคโรนา 2019 ทำให้เผชิญความเครียด วิตกกังวล และความกดดันในการดูผู้ป่วยเพื่อให้ปลอดภัยและคุณภาพ
3.การเปลี่ยนแปลงอะไรที่ต้องการเห็นสำหรับพยาบาลในประเทศไทย?
ต้องการให้ผู้กำหนดนโยบายและผู้บริหารโรงพยาบาลมีนโยบายในการสนับสนุนสิ่งแวดล้อมในการทำงานแห่งสุขภาวะ (healthy workplace) โดยมีสภาพแวดล้อมในการทำงานที่ปลอดภัย(safety) จัดสรรและสนับสนุนทรัพยากรในการทำงานที่เหมาะสม เพียงพอ ให้เกิดความปลอดภัยสำหรับบุคลากรทางการพยาบาลทั้งในสถานการณ์ปกติและสถานการณ์วิกฤตเช่น การระบาดของโรคติดเชื้อไวรัสโคโรนา 2019 รวมทั้งสนับสนุนสิ่งแวดล้อมทางจิตใจและสังคมในการทำงานให้บุคลากรทางการพยาบาลมีสุขภาวะ (well-being)
4.ผลลัพธ์จากโครงการการรับรู้ของพยาบาลในการปฏิบัติงานในช่วงการแพร่ระบาดโรคโควิด19 (Global Nursing & Midwifery Perspectives of Working During the COVID-19 Pandemic: GCNMS) จะช่วยพยาบาลในประเทศไทยอย่างไรบ้าง?
ผลการศึกษาของโครงการ การรับรู้ของพยาบาลในการปฏิบัติงานในช่วงการแพร่ระบาดโควิด19เป็นส่วนหนึ่งที่สามารถที่สะท้อนถึงสถานการณ์ทางการพยาบาลที่เกิดขึ้นในประเทศไทยในช่วงการแพร่ระบาดโรคโควิด19 เป็นประโยชน์สำหรับผู้บริหารในการเป็นข้อมูลสำคัญในการขับเคลื่อนนโยบายและพัฒนากลยุทธ์สำหรับพยาบาลและวิชาชีพการพยาบาลในการรับมือกับสถานการณ์การระบาดใหญ่ (pandemic) ที่อาจจะเกิดขึ้นในอนาคต
1. What are the three most challenging things for nurses in your country?
According to health care, nurses in Thailand face challenges with non-communicable diseases (NCDs), communicable diseases (CDs), and the aging population.
2. How can we highlight nursing and mental health issues in your country?
Nursing and mental health issues are job stress and exhaustion. While they are increasing the number of nurses through the health system, nursing retention and nursing shortage remain, creating a high workload and increased pressure on nurses. Recently, the pandemic has become moving stressors from challenges in resource allocation to support services and define desired and measurable outcomes for patient and public health, resulting in mental exhaustion contributing to poor mental health.
3. What changes would you like to see for nurses in your country?
We would like to see government or hospital administration policies supporting healthy work environments and allocating resources supporting nurses to adapt to crisis infection control protocols or new areas and contexts or practices. The policy supports the development of nursing and making nursing services accessible to more people in society.
4. How is the work of the GCNMS helping nurses in your country?
The GCNMS can reflect the nursing situations in the country, which is literal evidence that would speed up or drive health care policy for nurse professionals.
