February
2024

Two abstracts from the GCNMS were accepted for the Eastern Nursing Research Society's (ENRS) Annual Conference. The abstract submitted by Hillary Dutton, NYU PhD candidate and GCNMS research assistant, was selected for inclusion in the conference's symposium. Our abstracts synthesize the perspectives of nurses and midwives around the globe to discuss how to improve pandemic response implementation. More information about the conference is available here

The GCNMS welcomed new team members from Tanzania in February 2024.​

2024

We are thrilled to shared that our Brazil research partners who have been awarded a $10,000 USD grant from Brazil’s National Council for Scientific and Technological Development! The grant will fund two years of research on working conditions of nurses during and after the COVID-19 pandemic in Latin America. The grant also includes scholarships for visiting research programs at NYU.

November 2023

Dr. Allison Squires presented early findings from 12 months of data collection to the World Health Organization Europe's Chief Nursing Officers Meeting.

October 2023

The GCNMS leadership met with the Chief Nurse of the World Health Organization at the World Health Summit in Berlin to discuss the findings from the study.

  • The Honduran team conducted their first national briefing with the Ministry of Health and presented the findings from their study. It is the first nursing workforce study ever conducted in the country.

  • Costa Rica launches a major national effort with the GCNMS survey to conduct a national nursing workforce study.

February 2023

  • New country partners joining the consortium in February:

    • Cambodia, Japan, Philippines​

  • An abstract of the Consortium's work was invited to submit a full paper for a special issue of Health Affairs that will focus on Global Health and the Pandemic.

  • Dr. Squires presented early findings from the Latin American arm of the study for a United Nations member briefing on universal health coverage sponsored by the United Nations Foundation.

January 2023

  • We are pleased to welcome Guyana as the 50th country member of the GCNMS. Ms. Winifred Razack, MSN, CNM, RN of the University of Guyana will lead data collection in the country. (2023-01-25)
